STEELITE INTERNATIONAL OBTAINS ISO 45001 CERTIFICATION

11 June 2024

In 2019, Steelite International embarked on a mission to enhance its occupational health and safety efforts by pursuing a recognised standard. The chosen standard was ISO 45001, designed to help organisations improve workplace safety and reduce employee injuries.

ISO 45001 provides guidelines for creating an effective Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system, which includes assessing risks and monitoring workplace activities. It helps organisations proactively prevent illness and harm while integrating with employee wellness initiatives. This standard supports the development of health and safety policies and objectives, identifies hazards and health risks, and establishes controls and procedures to minimise the risk of harm. By encouraging active employee involvement, ISO 45001 leads to a safer workplace and reduces operational disruptions caused by staff illness or health-related absences.

Site Services Director, Pat Griffin commented: “Our journey culminated on August 1st with a successful Stage 2 external audit by Lucideon, at which point we were recommended for certification. ISO 45001 complements our other ISO standards (9001 & 14001), creating a comprehensive system that covers document control, environmental management, and occupational health and safety.”
